MILITARY TIME
Military time is used to avoid confusion between morning and afternoon times. For example, if you tell someone you will meet them at 9:00, do you mean a.m. or p.m.? Converting regular time to military time isn’t really that complicated. Just add 12 to the normal time to get military time. For example, if it is 9:00p.m., add 12 to get the military time (9+12=21 which is 2100). Another example is 2:43p.m. Take just the hour (2) and add 12, and then add the 43 minutes back in. So, 2+12=14, and then put the 43 back in, for a time of 1443. Any time before noon is given as the normal time, except hours before 10:00a.m. will have a “zero” (0) before it. So, 2:00a.m. is 0200; 6:00a.m. is 0600, and 11:00a.m. is 1100. Another example would be 5:52a.m. would be 0552. 7:40a.m. would be 0740, and 11:58a.m. would be 1158.
Some other examples:
2:50a.m. = 0250
3:22p.m. = 1522
7:12a.m. = 0712
Noon = 1200
12:05a.m. = 0005 (or 2405)
1:05a.m. = 0105
10:58p.m. = 2258
