The Curriculum
Another misconception is that the courses are all based on the military. While there are some parts of the program that deals with the military (drill and ceremonies and military history), the majority of the courses are designed to prepare the cadets for life beyond high school.
Lt Col Yunt teaches the Aerospace Science portion of the program, while MSgt Hood teaches the Leadership Education portion. Physical training is taught by both Lt Col Yunt and MSgt Hood on an alternate Friday schedule.
The courses taught are:
AFJROTC-1: "Journey in Aviation History" and "Traditions, Wellness, and Foundations of Citizenship"
AFJROTC-2: "Science of Flight" and "Communication, Awareness, and Leadership"
AFJROTC-3: "Exploring Space", "Exploration-An Introduction to Astronomy" and "Life Skills and Career Opportunities"
AFJROTC-4: Management of the Corps and "Principles of Management" or "Unlocking Your Potential."
Cadets also participate in physical fitness training (PFT) every Friday. PFT is designed to introduce students to healthy lifestyle choices through regular exercise and proper nutrition. The state of Ohio passed HB 290 into law, which allows physical education credit to be awarded to students who take two years of AFJROTC.

The Uniform
AFJROTC requires cadets to wear a uniform similar to the Air Force uniform once a week. Our uniform day is Thursday and cadets are expected to wear a uniform that is clean, neat, and pressed. Cadets earn a grade up to 100 points per week for uniform wear.
Uniforms are provided to cadets at no charge, but they must return the uniform when they are no longer in the AFJROTC program. Cadets who do not return the uniform will be placed on the school's debt list for any items not returned and his or her grade will be listed as Incomplete until the uniform is returned.
